St. George Marathon Pace Calculator & Race Plan

St. George is one of the fastest marathons in the country thanks to a massive 2,557-foot net elevation drop from the Pine Valley Mountains to downtown St. George. But the course is not all downhill. The Veyo Wall at mile 7 is a brutal climb that catches underprepared runners, and the downhill pounding takes a toll on your quads over the full distance.

Our model is especially important here. The downhill sections cause cumulative quad damage that slows you dramatically in the final miles. The splits account for the actual grade at each point, the quad fatigue from sustained descents, and the October desert heat.
