The Los Angeles Marathon route takes runners on a point-to-point journey through the city, starting at Dodger Stadium in Elysian Park and finishing at Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. The marathon route through LA passes through Chinatown, heads west on Sunset Boulevard through Echo Park and Silver Lake, climbs through East Hollywood, then drops down to Hollywood Boulevard past the Walk of Fame and the Chinese Theatre. From there the course follows Rodeo Drive through Beverly Hills, continues through Westwood past UCLA, and finishes with the final miles along San Vicente Boulevard to the ocean.
The LA marathon course map shows 209 meters of total elevation gain, with the biggest climb between miles 7 and 8 as the route ascends through East Hollywood. The course is net downhill overall, but the exposed road sections in West LA can add significant heat stress even in March.
